Question:
What are compatible cartridges ?
What does compatible mean ?
Answer:
Compatible cartridges are brand new cartridges ready for use,
manufactured by companies other than the company that
manufactured the printer in which the cartridges are to be used.
This means that the cartridges you buy to fit your printer are
brand new and compatible to your printer.
Question:
How do I change my cartridges on my Epson / Canon / Xerox /
Brother printer ?
Answer:
Details are listed in your printer manual you received when you
bought your printer. However, if you bought a second hand
printer and don't have a manual, go to our information
page and all is explained there. There is also a step by
step guide in your printer properties box, this is the box that
appears when you select [ Print ] to print a document or image
on your computer.
Question:
Why do I get an on screen message telling me that 'the
installed cartridge is not an Epson cartridge'?
Answer:
This is because you are using a compatible cartridge (a
brand new cartridge made by a different company) and Epson have
electronic signatures built in to their cartridge microchips in
order for Epson printers to recognise their own brand of
cartridge and to attempt to discourage the use of cartridges not
made by their company. When you see this message, it also asks
you if you wish to continue using this cartridge.
Click on [ Yes ] when you see this and printing will continue as
normal.
If you press [No], the microchip will be reset and the cartridge
will then be unusable.
Question:
Why are compatible cartridges so much cheaper to buy than
the printer manufacturer brand?
Answer:
Neither the original manufacturer's nor the alternative
manufacturer's cartridges are very expensive to manufacture, but
the original manufacturer requires and can demand so much more
money for their brand of cartridge as they are the company that
holds the copyright & brand name of the printer and also
have major branding advertising and investor profits to
maintain, whereas alternative manufacturers have no major
branding advertising or investor profits to maintain and so, can
sell their cartridges at a standard mark up value.
Question:
Why do my prints have lines through text or images?
Answer:
This is something that usually happens when (a) you
replace an empty cartridge with a full one. (b) you have
not used your printer for a few days.
It is usually due to either clogs in the tiny print nozzles or
air trapped between the print nozzles and the new flow of ink
from the cartridge. Epson, Canon, Brother, HP, Lexmark, Xerox
and other printer manufacturers are aware of these problems of
maintaining continuous flow when the ink reservoir (cartridge)
has to be removed from the print head and a new one attached or
a cartridge is refilled and as such, the software provided with
the printer has maintenance tools built in for your use so as to
clear blockages and air locks. There are visual examples of
print quality within this software showing correct and incorrect
print test patterns. Air locks are difficult to remedy using the
tools provided, therefore, we provide additional helpful
information on our ink cartridge information
page to assist you.
